Aight, raise your hand if you've heard of Elvis. Or Little Richard. Or Chuck Berry. If you haven't, either you're freakin' lying and I'm calling you out on it or you're from another world so you're excused.

Anyway! They're all forms of rock and roll. Now, if you didn't know, the totally awesome inventor of that was this badass chick named Rosetta Tharpe. Seriously, she made, like, the first rock and roll record, was super popular, all that. She inspired all those guys up there, everyone's popularity combined throughout the ages made it a big thing, and there you go. Music genre.

[That is probably not exactly how it works, but Kirikou is a simple kid.]

But that's how it is in my world. Here, they still have rock and roll- I know, I've seen the CDs and all that- and it's probably in a lot of other people's worlds too. How's that happened? Did it just come around in a completely different way, like different recipes for the same thing? Or are there, like, alternate universe Rosetta Tharpes?

I dunno, just thinkin'.

...We never had anything like that where I'm from. We had music, but, uh... It wasn't really wide-spread or anything. Usually it was just people with an instrument playing for fun or for money in the streets or a bar. And it's not really loud like some of the stuff here.

Concurrent evolution? I mean the idea that alternate worlds have humans is weird enough, getting into cultural things will just make you tired.

Ohhhh! Music! I love music, the weather is just so fleeting and bountiful. A quick cut to the weather and our listeners are swept away with calming comforts of the guitar and informed about what is to come as the tune bleeds through their eardrums and shoves the knowledge straight into their cerebellum.

[Of course in his world music is used as literally the weather on his radio show.]

The constant music here is a little...dull. At first I thought it was the weather but this is just a annoying normality!

I've heard of them...but I can't say I particularly care for that genre of music.

Huh. That's a pretty valid point - I wouldn't be surprised if it came around in a way that's similar but not...quite the same, though. I don't know, a lot of things here seem watered-down or like weird imitations of the actual thing.

Honestly, there's alternate versions of a LOT of stuff from back home.

I have a Blue Cloyster Cult CD somewhere around here. It's not exactly the same, of course, but y'know, definitely related.

I kinda just don't question it, at this point.
